Hayes Moore Sr.
A Recognition to Our Family Historian

Our Moore family historian was an advocate for Black culture, a strict but fair man,
and to his credit his resilience to become a great researcher.

My Dad had to start somewhere, just like any family historian.  His journey began with research from the Library of Congress in DC, North Carolina archives, family in Pasquotank County, court records, death certificates, and grave markers.

HAYES MOORE SR.
OUR FAMILY HISTORIAN

HIS MOST IMPORTANT GOAL IN LIFE WAS NOT ONLY TO KNOW HIMSELF, BUT TO LEARN AND SHARE THE LINEAGE OF HIS FAMILY.

HIS EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ALSO INCLUDED HIS DNA TEST THAT RESULTED IN OUR FAMILY ANCESTRY BEING TRACED BACK TO THE YORUBA PEOPLE IN SOUTHWESTERN NIGERIA.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VIEW A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO HIM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TO US, THE MOORE FAMILY AND THE MANY OTHER FAMILIES THAT ARE CONNECTED IN OUR FAMILY TREE.

Now begins the process of putting ALL that research together. At that time my Dad started by literally handwriting each family member's name with dates of birth on large white poster boards, eventually having to tape them together because he was gathering more and more material. Could you take a look at these pictures to get a good understanding of how much time and effort this took?"

Coming Together"

" The O'jays could not have said it better: It's a family reunion, and it's so nice to come together and get together !!! "
